Holy Ghost

As James Murphy calls time on LCD Soundsytem label mates Holy Ghost arrive just in time to keep the NY disco fire burning. The video below features the song 'I Will Come Back' that's taken from their their upcoming EP 'Static on the Wire'; you can buy from Monday here. They are also playing at The Deaf Institute in Manchester on Thursday 8th of July, this will be their first ever UK date so tickets will be scarce.

Orphan Boy 'Pop Song'

Manchester's Orphan Boy will be releasing their second album later this year and I've been lucky enough to get hold of future single 'Pop Song'. The lyrics are my personal highlight offering a subtle insight into the differences that exist between people involved in the music business and suggesting said differences can be applied to wider society in the UK. Less of the over analysis mind; just give it a few listens and you may get it.

Dream Over

This weekend I will mostly be listening to Pure Ecstasy. They are from Austin Texas and will hopefully have an album out in 2010. Its great to see a band wear early 90s influences on it's sleeve and they provide a welcome change to the self proclaimed 'Surf' acts coming out of the US just now. A full mp3 of the track 'Dream Over' can be downloaded below.

Arcade Fire - Month Of May

Two new Arcade Fire tracks have just started doing the rounds; with 'Month of May' being the pick of the pair. Revealing a heavier sound the band have taken a step in a new direction that's welcome in these parts. Download the mp3 below. Courtesy of We All Want Someone

Klaxons - Flashover

Klaxons have been away for so long I actually forgot about them, especially when considering the bands they held a door open for; Foals, Friendly Fires and so on now have a deeper catalogue of songs than them. 'Flashover' is the first material being made available from the forthcoming record that included sessions with Ross Robinson. Check it out below.

Celestica

Crystal Castles release their second self titled record today and its a welcome step up on their debut effort that sold comfortably despite being as consistent as Lee Trundle in an average Championship side. Like a civil servant hoping for a pay rise; blogging about this band today is completely pointless because no one is going to read/listen to this drivel. Anyway i've posted the unofficial video below to save me the hassle of visiting youtube along with a link to the track on soundcloud.

Scribbler

The return of Underworld has been under reported; especially amongst the mainstream music press. This is unfortunate for the wider public as their first effort in years, 'Scribbler' is typical of an act that have mastered the art of the techno/house anthem. The track can be streamed below and also visit their website to download a free mp3.

Butterfly House

The best British band of a generation; The Coral, return this summer with a new album their sixth in total if you include the mini album Night Freak.... Not a bad return considering they have only been around as The Coral for little over a decade. The album title track, 'Butterfly House' is being circulated as a taster for things to come. Listen to it via the stream below.

Kingtree and the Roots - 'High Tide'

Yet more goodness from Manchester; this time in the form of Kingtree and the Roots who have kindly given me a track to post up here. They don't have any shows in the near future but hopefully this will change as 'High Tide' shows a lot of promise. If I was to compare them to anyone I'd say it were a bit like Doves fronted by Mark Lanegan - thats my opinion mind so please ignore the bullshit as you choose.
